Exhausted walker on Birkhouse Moor

On Saturday 24/08/2024 at 20:30hrs the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out with a report of a 70 year old man whose legs had given way and he was unable to continue.
A number of team members were already at the base packing away kit from a previous call out that evening. The location of the casualty was on the main path going up Birkhouse Moor.
Team members reached the casualty quickly and he was checked over by the team doctor. No serious medical issues were diagnosed and the casualty was taken down the fell on a stretcher. Back down in the valley he was reunited with his walking party who took him back home.
The rescue lasted 3.5 hrs and involved 12 team members.
