Edale Mountain Rescue Team members presented with King Charles III Coronation Medal
June 4, 2024
Team members along with their partners and family members gathered at The Norfolk Arms in Ringinglow last night (1st June) for an honours and awards evening.
After a few drinks and some large helpings of pie and peas the awards began ….
Mrs Chrissy Donaldson was presented with a bouquet of flowers in thanks for her many years of unglamorous but very important work tidying and cleaning our Base.
Andy Cass, Bob Davey and Ian Webb were awarded Honorary Life Membership of the team in recognition of their very significant service.
Andy Cass was also presented with a Long Service award for 50 years team membership.
Long Service awards were also presented to Rob Small and Neil Roden (for 40 years service) and Mike Cole, Ian Donaldson and Ian Webb (for 30 years service).
Those Honorary Life Membership and Long Service Award recipients were also amongst a total of 39 team members who were presented with The King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Some recipients were unable to attend due to work or holiday commitments and their awards and medals will be presented as soon as possible.
Dave Torr (Edale Team Leader) made the presentations and the evening was hosted by Ian Bunting (Edale Team Chairperson and Mountain Rescue England and Wales Operations Director ).
After the presentations we all gathered on the lawn outside at sunset for photographs before a few more celebratory drinks were had.
Finally, a thank you to everyone that joined us and to all of the wives, husbands, familes and friends that provide the invaluable ‘back team’ support at home that allows Team members to ‘get out the door’ on call-outs, in some cases for 30, 40 or 50 years !!
