Patterdale Mountain Rescue team was contacted for a second time on Monday the 16th September by Cumbria Police at 18:15. On this occasion the elderly gentleman who had been walking on Place fell with his wife had started down a steep decent, sat down for a rest and found he could not get back up. The couple then rang the police to contact us for assistance.
Given their location and that we had limited numbers available we asked Penrith Mountain Rescue Team for some support with this job.
As we arrived at the casualties’ location we found that they had travelled further down the fell than when they had initially requested help. On this occasion this made our job a little easier and after the team doctors checked the man over we put him on a stretcher and lowered him off the fell where he and his wife were driven to the team base in a team Landrover.
He was given a final assessment by the doctor again and they then made their own way home.
Thank you for the support from Penrith Mountain Rescue Team.
