June 18, 2024 5.30 pm
On Tuesday 18/06/24 at 17:30 hrs, the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out by North West Ambulance Service after a report that a female walker had fallen off a cliff and had sustained back/shoulder injuries. The location of the incident was Glencoyne Wood, below Glenridding Dodd.
The first Landrover was on scene quickly and the casualty and her friend were located in some rough, steep ground off the main path. The pair had been walking a route over Sheffield and Heron Pike and, when descending, had lost the path. They ended up climbing down steep rocky terrain when the casualty’s foot gave way on a rock and she fell 10 to 15 meters. The casualty had sustained a nasty laceration to her shoulder.
She was given pain relief and the injury was treated at the scene. She was then lowered on a stretcher to the road where she was transferred to a land ambulance.
The rescue lasted 2 hrs and involved 18 team members
