In late 2003, Mountain Rescue England and Wales adopted the tagline ‘saving lives in wild and remote places, introduced in Issue 7 with a rationale ‘why?’ The line is still used by teams around England and Wales but MREW has since changed the tagline to ‘So much more than mountains’ to better reflect the breadth of terrain and jobs tackled by teams now. Elsewhere, there was a controversial piece of research about how ‘men climb and women walk’, and even some recipes to feed the soul in the outdoors from a regular wild camping team member.
