Judy Whiteside looked at the Rescue Benevolent Fund five years on from its formation, with a couple of the fund’s beneficiaries sharing their very different experiences. Alan Hinkes talked about ‘proper planning’ to ‘prevent poor performance’, Dave Whalley looked back at Lockerbie, thirty years on and we paid tribute to Mike Nixon MBE, remembering his remarkable 65-year career in Keswick in mountain rescue. Mike Byrne described his involvement in the rescue of a climber from an avalanche in Snowdonia in 2014.
