Lions Clubs from the North West support Mountain Rescue Teams with Water Rescue Incident Trailers
April 14, 2019
Following the dreadful Storm Desmond floods of Christmas 2015/2016, the Lions Clubs North West District contacted the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSAMRA) to help fund equipment in anticipation of future flooding events. Lions Clubs wanted to support the mountain rescue teams in both Lancashire and Cumbria. Following talks, an agreed project was to provide two identical water incident trailers, fully stocked, each costing £30,000.
The trailers have been in use over the past several months, primarily for training purposes ready for when the need arises. They are based in central locations in Cumbria and Lancashire for major flooding incident responses and available to all the teams.
On Saturday 25th May, there will be a display and demonstration starting at
11 am at Leven Valley C of E Primary School, Backbarrow. The two trailers will be on show along with water rescue technicians from the mountain rescue to demonstrate how the equipment will be used.
Members from the Lions Clubs North West District together with the Mid Pennine Search and Rescue Organisation (MPSRO) and the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSAMRA) will be present.
