On Tuesday 3/12/24 at around 1700hrs Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted to regards of a lone walker on Striding Edge who was stranded and along the ridge on his own. The walker had no lights and found himself on Striding Edge when it got dark. With conditions being wintery the man was unsure about continuing on his own.
The Police had initially called out Keswick MRT who spoke to the young walker over the phone. After they had established his exact location and that he was parked at Glenridding they passed the call out to the Patterdale Team. As the man wasn’t injured and just required assistance getting down a limited call out was initiated and 3 team members responded to walk up and get him down.
As the team approached the Hole in the Wall area just before Striding Edge they met the walker who had managed to move along the ridge by himself in the dark. He was assisted back down to the valley and dropped at his car.
