On Tuesday 6th August at 11:46hrs Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was tasked by Cumbria Police to a man who had been canoeing on Ullswater and fallen in and was unable to get back into his boat.  

The Team used their Rescue Rib and went to the aid of the gentleman who had managed to get to safety on the lake shore near to Silver Point.  He was brought on board the Rib and taken back to calmer water near his campsite at Side Farm. Due to the conditions and choppy water the man had been unable to paddle himself back.

Four Team members were involved in the incident for around an hour.
